Rozalin - In Defense Of
Rozalin is my favorite character from Disgaea 2, although this didn't happen overnight; I had to beat the game first before she grew on me.
Admittedly, one does not play Disgaea for story; they play for the outlandish characters and awesome tactical battle system which has remained unexplored (and thankfully unmonopolized by other major companies). However, I do argue that Disgaea 2's story and characterization are leaps and bounds above that of the first Disgaea game. Sure, this isn't an epic storyline like some more popular and mainstream RPGs like Final Fantasy or Xenosaga, but Disgaea 2 has its own charm.
I've seen some people in the fandom bash Disgaea 2 and it's characters. Yes, some of them get rather annoying; not even I can take so much of the "it's my style" or "I'm the only daughter of Overlord Zenon" speeches, but the game itself has some quirky moments as well as a fantastic battle system that requires you to actually think.
Well, I digress. But the point is, I find Rozalin awesome. If you don't as well, then why are you visiting this shrine? Rozalin is an amazingly deep character; I found myself sympathizing with her, and during the climax of the story I felt like the game reached a new level of storytelling. Her story may be cliche in some manner, but is also touching.
And that's good enough for me to make a shrine. I don't need to defend myself to you.
