Crescens is of the Vierge-class model, meaning that the model is mainly built for reconnaissance and ether amplification. However, it defies the standard in many ways, and is far different from Elly's Vierge or Miang's Proto-Vierge. For one, it has no arms; as a substitute, the giant wings on its helmet acts as the upper appendages. It also lacks any equippable weapons, unlike the Vierge's rods or the Proto-Vierge's shield.

Despite the lack of weapons, Crescens is unique as it is also one of the best melee damage-dealing gears in your party's arsenal, despite not having an Omnigear form. Unlike some of the more powerful gears you attain relatively early in the game such as Andvari and Seibzen, whose relative power diminshes over time, Crescens proves to be a useful asset throughout the adventure.

This isn't to fail to mention that it still has its ether amplification; Emeralda's variety of elemental attack ether is available for Crescens, although I doubt it will be your top priority as the melee damage, again, is very potent in any situation.

Crescens' light frame also grants it very awesome speed! On the downside, having to have some sort of weakness, Crescens' light frame also makes it have the lowest frame HP of any gear. This should not prove to be a major problem most of the time, though, as all of its strong points more than make up for it.

One main reason that Crescens is so powerful and on the same level as an Omnigear is because Emeralda most likely becomes a part of the vessel itself when she pilots it, therefore cutting response time between pilot and machine, as Emeralda is wholly both. The purpose of the Anime Relics is to cut response time between pilot and gear, and treat the two units as a single unit. As Emeralda already does this without the aide of an Anima Relic, having her attain one would be redundant.
