Balthier » Revenant Wings

With a direct sequel to Final Fantasy XII's storyline, you'd think that it would be awesome... or at least more awesome than Final Fantasy XII was, right?

Well, unfortunately, Balthier is a bastard in this sequel. Not only is he introduced only halfway through the game, he's then iterated as an antagonist to Vaan and his entourage. Not only that, he steps down and then acknowledges Vaan as the "leading man".

Balthier basically does very little in this game, as the game's focus and plot is on Vaan and Penelo, and the newer characters introduced by the plot bunnies that the producer thought up. And while the game is one of those "eh, just one more battle before I go to bed... oh, snap, it's three in the morning and I have a class at seven in four hours!" games, Balthier just doesn't do much in this game.

I still use him in my battle party, though, despite the fact that he kidna doesn't do much.
