This episode is completely based on chapter seven of the manga, which involves Keiichi more or less trying to make the moves on Belldandy. More than that, this episode is surprisingly exceptionally faithful to the manga except at the very end.

Minor changes include that in the manga the only people that stopped and inquired about Belldandy's whereabouts to Keiichi weren't specific characters. In other words, the scenes with Tamiya, Otaki, and Sayoko are new to the anime. I personally like how Sayoko's personality is shown with her interaction with Keiichi.

One thing left out of the anime was when Belldandy handed Keiichi's things to Keiichi, he fell down because of the weight. Then again, it would be uncharacteristic of the Belldandy we know and love today (which is probably the reason why the second chapter of the manga was left out).

The classroom and daydream sequences are all new material. In fact, the manga skips right back to the temple.

Keiichi doesn't have a stereo; instead, in the manga, he has a tape player that could only be heard through tiny headphones, so he didn't use the tape. However, in the manga, he taped his music off of the radio instead of getting the tape from his upperclassmen, and the scene with the Buddhist sutra is new to the anime.

Also, Keiichi doesn't put on a suit (although the suit shown in the anime is the same as shown earlier, the one he wore when asking Sayoko out. Ironically enough, that was the same suit he used in the manga in the same incident).

In the manga, they never went out to the yard (so no candles either); Keiichi attempted to confess his feelings at the table.

The biggest change from the manga to the anime takes place at the end of the episode, when Keiichi overcomes Belldandy's spell and finally tells her how he feels. This doesn't happen in the manga; Keiichi falls asleep. I personally think this is a great change, since it's a major milestone in Keiichi and Belldandy's relationship. I look forward to seeing how Mr. Gohda further directs this series.
